Hundreds of home buyers in Hefei, capital of Anhui Province, are grouping together to bargain with real estate developers in a bid to get more reasonable housing prices.

The first gathering took place on Monday as more than 300 locals, knowing one another through a popular chat program, met downtown.

After visiting six real estate projects, participants sharing interest in the same property went to the developer together, asking for a price cut.

A participant predicted that an average decrease of 5 percent could be expected thanks to the collective bargaining power.
