Police in Haikou, capital of Hainan Province, rushed to a bank whose alarm had been triggered, only to find that the intruder was a mouse.

The alarm went off at 4:40 am on January 11 at a bank on Haidian Road, waking residents nearby.

Police rushed to the scene, prepared to capture and arrest the culprit.

After an investigation, they discovered that the mouse had bit through a wire, causing the alarm to sound.

The wire was replaced, the alarm system was reset and at least some residents went back to sleep.
