The father of a 14-year-old boy in Guangzhou has asked for police to help him after the son ran away from home last week.

The story in Panyu District began when the father, a migrant worker named Ye Caijin, wanted to discipline his son into eating a meal in less than two hours. His goal was to shorten the time to less than 15 minutes by next Sunday.

But the attempt at correction failed. The son, who has dropped out of school, hadn't met his father's requirement when he disappeared.
