Holding a sign on Tianjin Street in Dalian, Liaoning, a senior chef has been advertising since last Saturday for students to learn his cooking skills for making famous dishes, mostly traditional Chinese fare.

Wang Xiyong, 54, worked as a chef for a restaurant serving famous dishes of traditional Chinese brands for more than 30 years.

But most of his former students changed professions years ago to earn much more money.

"I'm looking for someone who can take over my cooking skills and prevent such traditional Chinese brand dishes from being lost in the years ahead," Wang said.
