Some Shanghai primary schools held traditional Spring Festival celebration activities on Monday, the first day of the new semester in a wish to help students familiar with the customs.

Students were required to bring red paper cuttings they had made at home to school for window and wall decorations. Spring Festival scrolls were hung on the classroom doors. Folk music was broadcast on campus, adding a happy holiday atmosphere.
