A man from Kaifeng, Henan, is in his fifth month of an intended journey to walk around the country.

Xiao Qiucheng, 43, plans to walk more than 100,000 kilometers and visit more than 2,000 villages and islands in 16 mainland provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in the next five years. The idea is to help promote the ancient city of Kaifeng.

Xiao, who began his journey in mid-October, has walked more than 4,000 kilometers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces and Shanghai Municipality.

He says he will refuse to take any vehicle during his journey.
