A young gorilla in the Chongqing Zoo celebrated its first birthday on Thursday by eating a piece of birthday cake and learning to blow out his birthday candle.

It enjoyed the sweet food, but burnt some of its hair while trying to blow out the candle.

Its father and mother were brought to China from Indonesia in 1999.
