Doctors from the No 2 Hospital affiliated with Shantou Unviersity fetched two toothbrushes that a man had swallowed seven years ago in the coastal city of Shantou, Guangdong.

Doctors removed the toothbrushes for Zhang Yong after surgery last weekend. Zhang was sent to hospital for treatment after suffering from gastric perforation caused by heavy drinking on Saturday.

The plastic toothbrushes, each 10 centimeters long, remained intact although they were discolored.

He swallowed them after a quarrel with his wife. He had had no medical problems until he became ill over the weekend.
