A group of gold-collar women in Shanghai have booked a trip to the United States next month to look for potential spouses there.

The organizer, a local online matchmaking company, will hold a group dating party in Silicon Valley, the high-tech corridor in the American State of California. The company said that only women with savings of over 500,000 yuan ($64,103) who are well educated and have decent jobs in China are qualified to participate. So far more than 20 women have applied to attend. Many highly educated Chinese men with good salaries have been doomed to bachelorhood in the region because of the disproportionately high number of males working for the software industry.
