A ginseng root that has been soaking in wine for four years sprouted leaves in the city of Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, recently.

A local woman surnamed Chen who had purchased the ginseng wine and put it under her bed four years ago was surprised to see five green leaves growing on the root when she decided to have a drink of the tonic wine on Tuesday.

It is far from common for ginseng that has been soaked in wine and a sealed glass bottle for four years to start sprouting leaves.

The special ginseng has also attracted many curious neighbors, friends and relatives to Chen's house.
